A message and activity briefing written by Mrs. Saima khusro Club‘s Founder:-

Environmental issue has become a serious problem these days throughout the world, everybody is facing difficulties regarding
this issue.  In this regard, I have established a "SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT CLUB" (to join please visit
http://savetheenvironmentclub.com) to create awareness.  This club is formed in August 2008, for the implementation of this
project; I arranged some activities among my students of school and other members of my club. I created this project after
undergoing through a professional training arranged by PELI (http://pelinstitute.org/ funded and supported by the U.S.
Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs http://exchanges.state.gov/) at PSU (http://www.plymouth.edu/)

At the first week of the formation of our club, I named that weeks as "Students and Teachers Awareness Week". In this week,
as founder of club I gave orientation about save the environment club, its goals & vision to the school students, teachers and
other club members.  Our club’s main objective is to make our young / generation active and responsible citizens towards our
environment protection. It is our club’s aim to sensitise the students about re-using the materials and preservation.  Our club
is preparing them to implement the knowledge gained in classrooms for a sustainable and a practical manner.  Our Club’s

Another activity our club arranged was a CLEANLINESS WEEK, during this week the members of club were trained and they
targeted the filthy areas of the school included trash cans, grounds, garden and surrounding of the school area.  These areas

Another activity was declared as "Cleanliness of School Play Ground and Garden" by the members of Save The Environment
Club.  As school playground and garden had knee high grass and wild weeds grown. Our members clear all this mess by

Few other activities were include GROUPS FORMATION for garbage removals, public awareness, civic knowledge,
advertisements about preservation and conservation of environment, plantations, essay writing competitions, poster
competitions and debate competitions, all these activities and competitions were only for the purpose of "awareness raising"

Our club is the follower of some great quotes such as Ross Perot says "The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty,
the activist is the man who cleans up the river."  Our one of the main and important activity, which I enjoyed is to start to
sensitise our students and club members about the re-using of materials and preservation. It was another weekly activity
arranged by our club, in this activity we discussed and planned on the benefits of re-use of materials in context of environment
education e.g. plastics, bottles, papers, paper plates, tins, cans, other re-usable materials etc. Re-cycling Bins were also

Times magazines is reported to have published: "In an underdeveloped country, don't drink water, in a developed country don't breath
the air", our Environment Club is just trying to do its part to  change that.   Our club’s formal inauguration ceremony was held on
10th November 2008 which was formally inaugurated by our most honourable DIRECTOR EDUCATION & TRAINING  
PROF. MUHAMMAD RAFIQUE TAHIR from Federal Directorate of Education, Ministry of  Education (Govt. of Pakistan).  In this
ceremony membership certificates were distributed by our honourable chief guest.  PTA president also donated Rs. 3000/- for our club.
